2/3 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 t. baking powder
2 well-beaten eggs
2 sqs. melted chocolate
1 t. vanilla
Sift dry ingredients together.
Combine eggs, sugar, and mix well.
Combine flour and egg mixture and blend in the melted chocolate, then oil.
Pour into a greased pan and spread to corners.
Bake 20 min. in 325 oven or until done when tested by sticking with a toothpick that comes out clean.
This was my grandmother, Kate Perry’s, brownie mix. She lived in Balsam, NC, and I would take the bus from Knoxville, TN, up to visit her for a week or two every summer as a kid. These brownies were always waiting for me when I got there! I don’t know if they are as great as I remember, or whether it was the long ride, and the anticipation of them, but they were really special! Whip up a batch for your kids, or grandkids, and ask them how they are.
